When You Drop The Hoop…
♥I LOVE teaching hula hoop dance…because it’s a metaphor for LIFE.
♥Easy example: When you drop the hoop, pick it up like you meant to do that.
Why this works…
♥We all drop things and we need to give ourselves grace and motivation to pick it up and try again.
♥Positive self talk to move forward…because we ALL have those moments where it’s tough to move on and the little gremlin voices start a chat fest in the back of our brains.
♥You don’t Need permission…but I’m your positive cheerleading “Che” voice that says, “You CAN do it. Keep Going. You GOT this!”

Why can’t I keep this Hoop UP?
Question: Why can’t I keep this Hoop UP?
Answer: If your hoop is falling down to the ground every time you try to waist hoop, it may have to do with the size and weight of your hoop. If you are trying to keep a hoop up on your waist (“waist hooping”) with a small, light, cheap toy (or kid’s size) hoop…definitely try a larger, slightly heavier* hoop.
• Having a good Hoop Size for You is one aspect of keeping a hoop up.
• Learning good hooping technique, will greatly help.
• Of course Practice, will get you much better at keeping the hoop up. Lots of practice. Keep at it!
*P.S. Do not use a “weighted” hoop! Here’s why:
• It will probably be too much weight, and more than you need to successfully hoop, when you learn GOOD basic Technique.
• Weighted hoops can more easily cause bruising, especially if you use it for more time than you are used to (which, when you start, is ANY amount of time!).
• You can outgrow it quickly when you get better!
Try these PRO Tips:
• Get an ADULT size hoop.
• Get advice for the size you need based on your GOALS.
• Not every size hoop is right for every body.
• You can do different things with different Size* hoops.
• A larger heavier hoop is more ideal for beginners to start with when learning how to hoop on on your waist.
• Smaller, lighter hoops can be great for off-body movements.
• A hybrid hoop may be a happy medium to accomplish both On-Body hooping AND Off-Body hooping.
*SIZE is based on YOUR individual needs and skill level. The better you get with your technique, you may prefer moving to smaller lighter hoops.
• Larger, heavier hoops rotate slower, and are thus usually easier for beginners to have success with learning how to hoop.
• Small, light hoops move Faster–which is great when you practice and advance your techniques.

Can I use a kid’s Hoop?
Question: Can I use a kid’s Hoop?
Answer: If you are having a hard time hooping, DON’T use your kid’s hoop! Why not?? Those are small, usually cheaply made hoops, that will break easily, and are usually too lightweight for most adults to use successfully.
Professional Hoop Advice:
If the only hoop you have is a kid’s size, or toy store hoop, you will have much better success if you use it for Off-Body moves like on your hands and arms (NOT “On-Body” or waist hooping).
Warning: you may spend a lot of time chasing that small hoop around when it drops. Plus, smaller hoops fly much faster and farther… because they are smaller and lighter.

What size hoop is right for me?
Question: What size hoop is right for me?
(aka: “Does hoop size matter?”)
Answer: Choosing a hoop size is very important to your success and the “right” size is very dependent on your very particular and individual needs and goals. So, where to start?
Here’s a few Hoop Size Tips to know to help you make a great choice for YOU:
• Larger, heavier hoops are really great for “On-Body” hooping like rotating around your waist. Highly recommended for your success, especially if you are just starting.
• Smaller, lighter hoops can move REALLY fast. Great for “Off-Body” hoop moves because they are a little easier on the muscles, joints, and bones, too.
• Hybrid hoops may be a more of a midway option because they can be a better in-between size and weight. Note: This may be a little more challenging for on-body hooping because it’s going to be lighter and smaller, and for off-body hooping, it’s going to be a little bigger and heavier.

5 Best Tips When Learning
It doesn’t matter if you hula hoop or not. Here’s my 5 BEST tips when learning. Let’s GO!
My #1 one favorite LEARNING TIP?
1.) When you are trying to learn something new…try saying “I GOT THIS” to yourself.* At first you may not believe it to be true…but eventually, with practice, it WILL Be!
In addition to this “I GOT This” exclamation/affirmation Here’s my other (not so secret Now!) learning tips:
2.) Most of us work well with positive reinforcement. We are usually so quick to pull ourselves down, so anytime we can counteract our own negative forces, is a positive leap in the right direction.
3.) I have a saying, “Tell the universe what you want, not what you don’t, because the universe cant take a joke.” Putting forth what you do want, will help you way more to actually achieve it.
4.) When you focus on what you want, you magnetize it to you.
5.) *P.S. If it just feels so weird to say something positive, that you just know you won’t believe…try saying THIS! The simple switch to stop using the word “Can’t” and also adding in the word “YET” will be a positive learning game changer!

How To Open And Close A Travel Hula Hoop
Are you traveling with a collapsible hoop? You need to know this! https://youtu.be/q3rq1i-hrMU Here’s how to properly and SAFELY open and close a travel hula hoop. This is very important! AND Depending on the type of hoop you have you may have to open it differently.
HOOP TYPES:
Figure 8 /Infinity Hoop – so named because this is the shape ot goes into before it gets folded up.
Push Button Connector Hoop – this coils in to collapse. Some hoops may not be able to double coil in but may only go 1 1/2 times in and you can either tape, tie, velcro, or bungee to hold a smaller shape.
Friction Fit Hoop – connects like a push button hoop but the tubing and connector fits snugly without a push button.
IMPORTANT:
⭕ ONLY uncoil or collapse a hoop in room temperature! Failure to do so may crack or break hoop, and or stress or break connectors.
⭕ Do not leave hoop in collapsed position.
⭕ For best care, do not leave hoop in hot or cold places (like a car)! Plastic tubing can become brittle, crack and break in cold, or warp and melt in heat. Tapes will also have better longevity and good performance, plus continue looking Good with careful care with room temperatures and hooping on smooth surfaces.
