10 Essential Tips To Hoop On Feet Successfully:

  1. ♥ Start the hoop rotating on your hand.
  2. Slide pointed foot up the arm (keep foot and arm connected TOGETHER as ONE rotation point!), into the hoop, and slide the hand out.
  3. ♥ Go Barefoot! 🙂 Better grip!
  4. ♥ Use a mat to protect your spine and joints.
  5. ♥ Hoop on the instep of your foot (toe hooping is harder to control, and keep on the foot).
  6. ♥ You can do a hoop “break”–sending the hoop in the opposite direction by tapping the non-hooping foot on the outside of the hoop–quickly and gently.
  7. ♥ Watch your FACE! The hoop will be coming down unexpectedly while you are mastering this new trick. A Smaller, LIGHTER Hoop is recommended for this reason! FYI: Smaller and lighter will rotate faster, but hurts less when it bonks you!
  8. ♥ The hoop will also be flying off of your foot when starting…probably a Lot…move breakables and keep practicing! 🙂
  9. When the hoop slides down the ankle, slide other foot in and up and catch hoop back on the instep of either of your feet .
  10. ♥ You can move the foot hooping leg to angles by flexing your foot (Flexing acts as a “foot break”…when you point the foot it will release the hoop–so you can catch it, toss it, or transition into other moves!

New Mountain Hoop Class In Person, And Online!

Mountain Hooping Class www.HipTheHoopla.com

Want to Hula Hoop, dance, laugh, learn and meet some neighbors? I’m hosting a “naturally socially distancing” Hoop Dance Class up off of Clear Creek. 10 am MST on Thursdays. ALL LEVELS Welcome! Hoops provided, bring your own, or get a new beautiful custom crafted professional hoop. So far we’ve had a total Laugh-Fest this month testing this location out!

•Like the idea, but want to stay home? I am getting us together to participate online, too! Trying some new tech up here, so bear with me to get it going.

•Classes are $10 for now (I used to charge $15 for many years). If you really want to learn and cost, or something else is an issue, please let me know. We can chat opportunities to help each other out–mountain style.

•Wear comfy clothing. Bring water. Shoes are a good idea, especially on the gravel. You can be in the shade or the sun. If you’re bringing (or dragging for their own good) a hoop buddy, Please carpool or join UTV forces, and Please get directions in advance.

•Class is about an hour-ish (sometimes we’re just having so much fun, it bubbles over).

•RSVP’s are greatly appreciated. You can pay in variety of ways-cash, credit/debit card, online, in person, Square, Venmo, Paypal, Vagaro, blah, blah, blah.

•303.919.9280 cell call or text. (Our CenturyLink 208 # is still out). Facebook Messenger works well. Email is ok but please message me to go search for your e-mail, please.

PLEASE NOTE : This is a positive, happy, healthy, community atmosphere/class. Neighbors are all encouraged to play and be nice–not hard to do with a hula hoop!!!

How To Get The Most Out of Workshops and Events

Che Rippinger of Hip The Hoopla humorous hoop dance fitness classes, hoops, performances

Che Rippinger of Hip The Hoopla humorous hoop dance fitness classes, hoops, performances

Going to a great workshop, conference, or learning event?

Here’s 8 of my favorite ways to get the most out of the conference/event/workshops you’ve invested your valuable time, money and energy into.

1.) Take a notebook…take actual notes and make some stick figure illustrations to help you with positioning,  movement, direction, things that make sense to you, etc.

2.) Take video of the summaries, if you can. Make sure you do NOT post these anywhere, as that’s the instructor’s livelihood.

3.) If you can, get video of Yourself doing/demonstrating the moves, or even explaining it, that’s really helpful! Part of the reason is that your brain will be spinning with all the new info you will learn in those many learning moments.

Plus, the videos will help you remember that you actually DID get these moves (at least once in the workshops!), and are possible again, with patience, and lots of practice.

4.) Review your favorite parts you want to remember right away…it’ll help you retain the information.

5.) If you can, teach your new information to someone else,  that will also help solidify the info even deeper so it stays in your mental toolbox. Make sure you credit your source, and just share some key key points, or cool moves, not the whole workshop, so people are interested in studying with that instructor when they can.

6.) Another note that I’ve kept true to for many, many years…Pick “one golden nugget,” just for you, from each thing you go to. That will serve you well over time, and help you feel better when you can’t remember it all (but paid to be there and participated!).

7.) Meet others, and get their contact info!* You may end up having them as a friend for years to come, as a colleague to share notes and review with, and to expand your community connection. So many wins!

8.) BONUS TIP: Always have fun. You’ll be happy to remember something you really enjoyed.

If you put these 8 tips into play, you will retain new information Sooooo much better, gain fabulous friends, and really get the most value that you can possibly can from all of your experiences!
